League Rules – September 2023
Darts
- Teams will consist of 8 players per team
- Games will be 1 leg of 701 up (Division 1), Best of 3 legs 501 ( Premier League)
- Games will be played under B.D.O. rules
- Games will commence no later then 8:30pm
- The away team throws first in legs 1,3,5,7, the home team throws first in legs 2,4,6,8
- Captains must name thier first 4 players before the 8:30pm start deadline, The remaining 4 players must be named no later then 9:30pm
- Once the captains have named their teams they cannot be changed unless authorised by both captains
- A substitute player can be named, but can only play in the event of another player leaving the venue in an emergency situation.
- The first game should start at 8:30pm, if a player is named to play but is unable to do so due to not being present, the opposing team has the right to claim the game 701-0, The Following games should start no later then 8:45, 9:00, 9:15, 9:30, 9:45, 10:00 and 10:15 respectively. The above times are not exact start times, but when games can be claimed due to a player not being present, both teams should at all times try to keep the games flowing.
- If a team arrives after the 8:30pm start deadline the opposing team has the right to claim the first game 701-0 and at 15 minute intervals as stated in rule 9.
- Captains at both Darts and Dominoes should avoid nominating players to play Darts and Dominoes at the same time, If a player is due to play but already playing the opposite game then teams should move on to the next game
- The throwing distance shall be 7ft 9 1/4″ inches from the front of the board, The bull shall be 5ft 8″ inches high (B.D.O. Rules)
- A point will be awarded for each game won and a bonus point will be awarded for the highest aggregate score over the 8 games.
- (Division 1only) – in the event of the aggregate scores being level the bonus point will be awarded to the team which as won the most legs.
- (Premier Division) – with the best of 3 legs 501 format the bonus (ninth) point will be awarded to the team with the most legs won, if the legs are level then the names of all players for both teams shall be put in to a hat and one player drawn from each team, the two players shall then play-off for the bonus point one leg of 501, nearest bull to throw first, Please note all players who have played in the match must be placed in to the hat, not selected players! if a player is drawn who is no longer present the point goes to the other team.
- If a team doesn’t have 8 players and therefore cannot complete the 8th game, then the point for that match will be awarded to the opposing team 701-0 or 501-0,
- The scoreboard MUST be visible to the players, and preferable mounted at one side of the dart board facing the oche
- Captains MUST NOT write players names on score/result sheet if the player is not in attendance at the time
Dominoes
- The team will consist of 5 pairs
- Games will be 1 game of 5’s and 3’s 61 up.
- Games will commence no later than 8:30pm.
- The away team will drop first in games 1, 3, 5, the home team will drop first in games 2 & 4
- Points can only be scored by Dominoes played.
- No points can be scored by “chipping” first.
- A player can not win the game on there own drop
- Captains must name their first 2 pairs before the 8:30pm deadline, the last 3 pairs must be named no later then 9:30pm
- Once the captains have named their teams they cannot be changed unless authorised by both captains
- A substitute player can be named, but can only play in the event of another player leaving the venue in an emergency situation.
- The first game should start at 8:30pm start deadline, the opposing team as the right to claim the game 61-0 and at twenty minute interval after that

- Two points will be awarded for each game won
- If a player plays the wrong domino on a purpose and is seen to do so by other players, a back peg penalty of 8 points will be awarded against the players, Please note the error must be pointed out before the next domino is played otherwise there is no penalty the domino is only in play once the player has released the domino in question, if the player realises the error before he releases the domino then no penalty comes in to effect, if the wrong domino is played and pointed out by an opposing player then that domino is removed from play and is dead, and the game continues as normal, Anyone not involved in the game, including scorers must not say anything otherwise the back peg rule does not apply
- If a player knocks when they can go they must be back pegged 8 points, as in rule 15 anyone not involved in the game, including scorers, must not say anything otherwise there is no penalty
- Players have the right to ask anyone stood watching around the table to move away, Domino captains may monitor the games
- All dominoes must be turned over at the end of each hand
- No claiming penalties if a domino is played the wrong way round or at the wrong end.
- Each player to shout out thier own score
- Strictly no talking over the tables
- We know tick tacking is involved in games and is hard to prove, but any players accused of cheating will be logged down and if there is more reports of the same players cheating from other teams then the incident will be looked in to further by the League and the players could be warned or suspended from the league
- If a team doesn’t have 10 players and therefore cannot complete the 5th game, then the names of the other players can be placed in to a draw and a fifth pairing created to play the last game, the 5th pairing cannot be a pairing from previous games and as such should be a new pairing that as not played together in the previous 4 games this must be mentioned at the beginning of the night by the captain, the draw must take place at the mid session interval, if this is not mentioned at the beginning of the night then the offending team without 10 players will forfiet the 5th game 61-0
- A Domino is NOT in play until it is released by the player
General Rules
- No games to be cancelled except in extremely bad weather, or a bereavement of a team member only
- Should a team cancel a match for any other reason, a penalty of 2 points deducted from Darts tables and 4 points from dominoes, this will be applied at the discretion of the league, The fixture must still be played before the next meeting, If there are no spare Monday nights available, then the game shall have to be played on an alternative night, The offending team will also have to pay a £20 fine to cover the cost of sandwiches. Multiple incidents have resulted in teams being expelled from the league
- Teams should not re-arrange fixtures without informing Jon Sheldrake or Andy Fothergill.
- If a team is expelled of drops out of the league, the following rules apply
- A – if it occurs during the first half of the season, all points gained against that team will be deducted from the teams within that division
- B – if it occurs during the second half of the season, points from the first half of the season still stand, however points from the second half of the season will be deducted.
- Any team found to be playing unregistered players will be deducted 20 points overall, 10 points from Darts and 10 points from Dominoes or could be expelled from the league, the offending team will be dealt with by the league and punishment decided by vote at the following meeting
- All players must sign the score sheets, It is the Captains responsibility to ensure all players have signed the score sheets, The Captains sign in the captains signature at the end of the night to state that he is happy that all information entered on the score sheet is correct.
- Immediately after the match the home team captain must phone or text the result to the Whatsapp group.
- If the result has not been phoned or text by the Wednesday following the match a penalty of 4 points overall 2 points from darts and 2 points from dominoes will be deducted from the relevant leagues.
- Meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of every month.
- Any team not attending a monthly meeting will be fined £2 in the first instance, £5 in the second instance and a third non attendance will result in a £7 fine and possible expulsion from the league
- Any team not attending the monthly meeting will be deducted 4 points overall 2 points from darts and 2 points fom dominoes, this rule is strictly adhered to as the league feels there are sufficient players in each team to send at least one delegate, In case of any pub/club with 2 teams the both teams must be represented by there own delegate.
- If a pub/club is closed for any reason the the home team has the right to play its matches at another venue.
- All players must be 15 and over, All players aged 15, 16 and 17 must have permission from the pubs landlord or Wmc committee to be on the premises at least 24 hours before a game
- The league will respect any decision made as a result of rule 12.
- A player may request a transfer before the halfway stage of the season providing he/she has not played Darts or Dominoes for his/her current team in that particular
- season, The league will require 48 hours notice prior to the match to check if the player has played
- New Players can be registered up to the halfway stage of the season, Registration forms will be handed out at the beginning of each season and must be handed back in fully signed at the halfway meeting, after this no new players may be registered
- The league will not tolerate any verbal/physical aggresion towards any member or official, any disputes are to be brought up at the monthly meetings.
- The league has the right to resolve any matter which is not covered by these rules
Team Knockout Event
- The league will run a team knockout event each season, with ten points available at Dominoes and 9 points available at Darts
- Captains should toss a coin, The winner of the toss can elect to take the first drop at Dominoes games 1,3 and 5,or take the first throw at Darts in games 1, 3, 5 and 7
- Teams should try to play 2 games of Darts to 1 game of Dominoes so not to ty and gain an advantage.
- Normal league rules apply.
- Darts games are 1 leg of 701, and Dominoes are 1 game of 5’s and 3’s 61 up
- The winning team will be the first team to score ten points, Score sheets must be filled in and handed in at the following league meeting with all scores, achievements and signatures complete, The result must be phoned or text to Steve Woodhouse on 07976 564630 immediately after the game as ended
Darts Play offs
- At the end of the league season top 8 teams from the Premier League and 1st Division and top 6 teams in the 2nd Division will qualify for the Darts play offs.
- Teams will be randomly drawn on the night and at end of each round to decide who plays who.
- The winning team will be the first to 5 points
- Teams must be at the venue no later then 8:00pm, Draw will take place at 8:15pm any team not here by that time will be scratched from the competition, games to start
- no later then 8:30pm
- Normal league rules apply
Dominoes Play offs
- At the end of the league season top 8 teams from the Premier League and 1st Division and the top 6 teams from the 2nd Division will qualify for the Dominoes play offs.
- Teams will be randomly drawn on the night and at the end of each round to decide who plays who.
- The winning team will be the first to 6 points.
- Teams must be at the venue no later then 8:00pm, Draw will take place at 8:15pm any team not here by that time will be scratched from the competition, games to start no later then 8:30pm
- Normal league rules apply.
Darts Individual Competition
- Players will be drawn to play at 8 venues or 1 central venue, playing to a winner from each venue/board, to go through to the finals night.
- The venue organiser will make the draw on the night
- games will be one leg of 701 or 3 legs 501 (Premier Division)
- Normal league rules apply
Dominoes Pairs Competition
- Players will be drawn to play at 8 venues or 1 central venue, playing to a winning pair to go through to finals night.
- The venue organiser will make the draw on the night.
- Games will be one game of 61 up.
- Normal league rules apply.
Darts Pairs Competition
- Players will be drawn to play at 4 venues or 1 central venue, playing to a winning pair to go through to finals night.
- The venue organiser will make the draw on the night
- Games will be one leg of 1001
Highest Finishes/Best Games
- The result for the highest checkouts, best games, highest average, most wins etc will not be decided until the full season has been completed, Play offs, singles and pairs etc are not included.
- Each Division will have separate Trophies for highest checkout and best game in both Darts and Dominoes Leagues
- Finals Night
Darts
- 1st round games will be one leg of 701 or 501 (3 legs for Premier Division)
- Semi finals and Finals will be best of 3 legs 701 or 501 (3 legs for Premier Division) singles and best of 3 legs 1001 pairs
Dominoes
- First round games will be one leg 61 up
- Semi finals and finals will be best of 3 legs 61 up
200 Club
- Each month the league will run a 200 club, Each team will be allocated a sheet consisting of 20 numbers, The team will be required to sell 20 numbers.
- Each number will cost £1
- All teams must comply and money will be paid whether at the meeting or not, If a team is not at the meeting and their number is drawn, the draw will be re-made.
- The teams may sell as many sheets as they wish.
- The league will payout 3 x £50 prizes each month:
- All monies will be paid out at the meeting.
- Your team representative will be asked to sign for the prize.
Presentation Night
- Presentation night will be the last date in the season, and all returnable trophy for this night should be returned at the meeting set out normally 3 month before Presentation Night
Please adhere by all the rules set out and breaking the rules will result in the league setting out a suitable punishment as set out in the rules
